Sadlier Reader

Introduction

Sadlier's offline eBooks are accessible via the Sadlier Reader app, found in the Apple App Store and Google Play. The Sadlier Reader app is free to download; you can only access Sadlier eBooks after receiving an access code from your administrator or teacher.

Downloading and Accessing the Sadlier Reader App

The Sadlier Reader app requires an internet connection for first-time access and set-up. Once you have downloaded your eBook(s), the app can be used without an internet or cellular connection. The app will store annotations and bookmarks while you are offline and synced the next time you connect to the internet.

In the Apple App Store or Google Play, search for "Sadlier Reader" and download the free app. The app requires 70 MB of space on your device.

Using the Sadlier Reader App on Your Device

Signing in

Your school administrator or instructor will provide you with a 12-digit access code for the Sadlier Reader. The access code can be entered with or without dashes. Be sure to save your access code for future reference. If you misplace your access code, contact your instructor for help.

Sadlier Reader Login Page

Your access code is unique to your account and should not be shared with anybody.

Account Info

Your Sadlier Reader account information cannot be edited. The Account Info page contains your unique access code for reference and lists the devices you've used to redeem your access code.

Device Management

Your unique access code for the Sadlier Reader can be used on up to three different devices. Devices can be removed from your account in three ways:

  1. Via Sadlier Reader Account Info
    1. Log in to the Sadlier Reader app and use the menu to navigate to Account Info.
      1. Under My Devices, find the device that you would like to remove. Select the trash can icon and confirm that you would like to remove the device.
  2. Via Sadlier Connect Account
    1. Log in to Sadlier Connect and use the menu to navigate to My Account.
      1. Your account details include your Sadlier Reader access code. Under the access code, click on "Manage Devices."

      3. In the Manage Devices window, find the device that you would like to remove. Select the trash can icon and confirm that you would like to remove the device.

  3. Ask for Help
    1. If you are unable to remove devices from your account, contact an instructor or administrator for help.

Using Your eBooks

Bookshelf

After you've signed in to the Sadlier Reader app, the Bookshelf will automatically populate with the eBooks your school has assigned to you.

  • Viewing eBooks in the Bookshelf
    • All Content: In the All Content tab, you can see all of your eBooks.
    • Cloud: In the Cloud tab, you can see eBooks that you have not downloaded. These eBooks can be accessed and used while connected to the internet but are not available when your device is offline.
    • Device: In the Device tab, you can see eBooks that have been downloaded. These eBooks can be accessed and used without an internet connection and also work when your device is connected to the internet.
  • Filter: The Filter button allows you to filter your eBooks by the program. 
  • Sort: You can sort your eBooks alphabetically or by expiration date.
  • Search: Use the Search function to find a specific eBook on your Bookshelf.

  • eBook Details
    • Tile View: Your bookshelf defaults to the tile view. Click the ... button to view important details about your eBooks.
    • List View: In List View, you can see the full details of your eBooks on the Bookshelf.

  • Favorite: Select the gray star next to your eBook to set it as a Favorite. Favorited eBooks will display a yellow star.

Downloading eBooks

Sadlier Reader eBooks can be downloaded and stored on your devices. Downloaded eBooks can be used offline for reading, annotations, and bookmarking. 

Downloading an eBook

  • Each of your eBooks has a Download button located under their cover image. The Download button is also accessible in the Book Details.
  • Choose Download. A pop-up will tell you the size of the eBook and confirm that you want to store the eBook on your device.

Removing an eBook

  • Downloaded eBooks have a Remove button under their cover image. The Remove button is also accessible in the Book Details. 
  • Choose Remove: A pop-up will confirm that you want to remove the eBook from your device.


Reader Settings

The Sadlier Reader app can display your eBook in either one- or two-page view. Pages can be turned by swiping left to right or by scrolling up and down. These preferences can be set in your Settings and can also be changed while reading your eBook.

  • View Mode: Single Page will display one page at a time. Spread View will display two pages at a time.
  • Page Transition: Horizontal page transitions allow you to swipe pages left and right. Vertical page transitions will enable you to scroll pages up and down.

Navigating eBooks

In addition to navigating pages one by one, you can jump to pages using the Table of Contents and Thumbnails tool.

Bookmarks and Annotations

While viewing your eBooks, a number of tools are available in the upper left corner of the screen. Use the Bookmark button to save pages to return to later. The Annotations button includes a number of tools for mark-up, comments, and drawing.


Additional Information for Administrators and Teachers

Access Code and Device Management

Your users' Sadlier Reader access codes will only be visible once an offline eBook license has been assigned to them. Administrators can view student, teacher, and administrator access codes in each user's profile. Teachers can view access codes for their students.

  1. Select "Manage Students" from the menu.

  2. For a given student, select Edit Account.

The same steps can be followed for teachers and administrators.

Administrators can also manage student, teacher, and administrator devices. Users can redeem their access code on up to three devices. If a student or teacher would like to use a new device and is unable to log in using their unique access code, administrators can remove devices from the student or teacher account. 

  1. Under the Sadlier Reader Access Code, choose "Manage Devices."
