There are two implementation options for administering the Placement Assessment online. * only the Placement Assessment has implementation options. Self Guided Assessment allows the student to access the interactive assignment, record themselves and submit for the instructor to grade at a later time. This option provides the students' recorded responses to the instructor on the grading page. Teacher Administered Assessment option allows the teacher to analyze and grade the student while they use the PDF version of the assessment. Students do not open a corresponding interactive assignment in Sadlier Connect. |
|
Students can access the Self Guided assessment by choosing Placement: Placement Assessment from the Assignments list. Students will not open a corresponding interactive assignment in Sadlier Connect if the teacher chooses the implementation option " Teacher Administered Assessment". |

Students will be asked to allow the recording feature to use the microphone on their device. Once audio is allowed, students can start recording. At any time, students can pause the recording, and either resume the recording or save and exit the assessment. Once a student has reached the last word, they can stop recording and submit their recording to the teacher. Once the assignment is graded by the teacher, it will have the status "completed". |
Teachers can grade both the Self Guided and the Teacher administered assessments on the Assignments page. Click the grade button of the assignment and choose Grade Assignment. On the grading page of Self Guided assessments, teachers can listen to each individual student's recording and checkmark the word Accurate and Fluent or Accurate and Not Fluent. Leave blank (no checkmark) for Not Accurate. Teachers can also leave a comment for each word. On Teacher Administered assessments, teachers will fill out the accuracy as the student uses the PDF of the assessment. The Accuracy and Fluency are automatically tallied, but the rate must be selected before the grading can be saved. Once saved, the next section for the student will be available for grading. Once a placement recommendation is available, it will be presented. The item listed is a link that will allow the teacher to assign the recommended item to the student. |

For Teachers who choose to administer the Placement Assessment independently from Sadlier Connect online platform, Sadlier Connect has a Placement Wizard. This tool will guide teachers through using the Placement Assessment exclusively on paper. The Placement Wizard offers an online tool that teachers can use to enter the students' scores and calculate their placement. ![]() |
